This will let the smartwatch users handle some device functions hands-free, like controlling music, replying to texts etc. This aside, Fossil is also bringing Google Assistant to the latest Diesel, Michael Kors and Skagen smartwatches.
Google Assistant on Fossil Smartwatches
Though it’s a default option for many, some feel having additional options is even better. And with Google refining its Assistant to be better, expect it to make a comeback in some notable brands soon. Fossil has started this trend , adding Google Assistant to its Gen 6 watches this week.
This addition is a new update to WearOS 3, making it possible for other WearOS smartwatches to receive the feature. And other sub-brands of Fossil, like Diesel, Michael Kors, and Skagen, will receive Google Assistant, too, provided they’re running on WearOS 3 and have an Android phone paired with it.
It should be noted that the connected handset should also have Google Apps, so phones from some Chinese OEMs and even Android Go aren’t eligible. Well, if you have a standard Android phone and any of the above-mentioned watches, you can immediately try Google Assistant after an update.
Users can invoke the assistant with a “ hey Google ” phrase, holding the physical button or tapping a watch face complication. This will let you answer texts and control music and other possible works hands-free . If you don’t like it, you can also switch back to Alexa, as Fossil tends to keep them both.
