SAN FRANCISCO, December 19, 2025 – Anthropic has broadened access to its Claude for Chrome browser extension, making it available to all users on paid plans rather than limiting it to the highest-tier Max subscription priced at $200 per month.
The extension enables Claude to interact with webpages in real time, navigating sites, filling out forms, managing emails and calendars, and completing multi-step tasks based on natural language prompts.
It also integrates with Claude Code, Anthropic’s AI programming assistant, allowing the model to access console errors and DOM elements for debugging. Users can record workflows to automate repetitive actions, such as data entry or scheduling.
Anthropic has incorporated safety measures, including mandatory user confirmation for sensitive operations and administrator controls for organizations to allow or block specific sites.
The rollout positions Anthropic in the growing field of AI agents that operate within browsers, competing with similar offerings from Google and OpenAI. Anthropic’s approach prioritizes deliberate deployment, aligning with its emphasis on alignment and safety in AI development.
